Gavin Wood: JAM Protocol is positioned as a resilient public digital infrastructure

Odaily News On March 5, at the JAM Tour 2025 Shenzhen Station hosted by Pala Labs, Gavin Wood, founder of Polkadot, said that the blockchain industry has become polarized. Long-termists think about: scalable decentralization, light nodes, trustless bridges, utility tokens, sustainable economic models, changing the status quo, rich metadata...; while short-sighted people think about: small validator clusters, expensive nodes, N/M multi-signatures, speculative tokens, VC sell-offs, catering to the powers that be, blind signatures...
Polkadot's goal is to create a high-quality block space. The high quality here includes high TPS (reaching 143,343 at the end of last year), high bandwidth, high decentralization (Nakamoto coefficient 149), energy efficiency and other indicators. JAM is different from both Polkadot and Ethereum - Polkadot is still a software design idea (software first), while JAM is a protocol design idea (protocol first).
JAM is positioned as a resilient public digital infrastructure. Currently, there are more than 36 independent teams using 15 languages developing JAM instances.
