“Ethereum no longer issues 5 million ETH per year due to the PoW mechanism. Users can now use Ethereum at a very low cost. Users’ Ethereum transactions can be completed in 30 seconds instead of 1-30 minutes (due to EIP-1559). Please be respectful.”
When asked why the Ethereum Foundation does not stake all of its ETH holdings and use the proceeds from staking to pay for expenses rather than selling ETH directly, Vitalik Buterin explained that the Ethereum Foundation wants to avoid being forced to make an "official choice" in the event of a controversial hard fork.
