Avail has launched a series ofinitial funding, the purpose is to support the development of Rollup infrastructure. This infrastructure is designed to advance the next generation of innovative blockchain applications. This funding program is intended to encourage developers and teams to participate in the construction of Rollup infrastructure that will be used by the community and promote the development of blockchain technology.

The grants span three different categories, each accepting proposals from multiple teams, providing many opportunities for the community to get involved. Check out the RFP (Request for Proposal) categories below to learn how you and your team can contribute to building Rollup infrastructure that the community can leverage.

If you prefer to work independently and would like to be an individual contributor, you can also explore the project by participating in Avails UnchartedList of questions,Earn rewards.

What is Avails RFP (Request for Proposal) program?

Avails RFP program is designed to kick-start the development of the Avail community and consists of a series of structured work modules for the development team to undertake. Developers first submit a proposal for review, and once accepted, your team can begin work and submit development milestones.

The proposal process is concise and clear, and teams will be rewarded for their contributions. you can use thisformSubmit your proposal on a form that demonstrates how you plan to implement the features outlined in the RFP and your teams suitability as a development team. If you have any questions about the RFP or the process, you can contact the team in the #grants channel on Discord, or via thisformSend us your questions.

Lets take a look at the first three RFPs in the Avail funding program, and stay tuned because there are more to come.

1. DA Adapters

The DA Adapters category is a key part of the Rollup infrastructure and helps stitch together the components within the ecosystem, allowing developers to quickly and easily use Avails data availability solutions in the Rollup stack of their choice.

Avail is a relatively low-level layer that prioritizes generating and securing common block space to meet the data availability needs of other blockchains. Most developers will interact with Avail through an SDK or as-a-service Rollup providers, which abstract away the complexities of setting up and managing their own DA solutions.

The DA Adapters category is designed to enable Avail integration across the broad Rollup ecosystem and partners. The DA Adapters currently being built by the team include Polygon zkEVM, Optimisms OP Stack, etc.

We hope to incorporate DA Adapters into other Rollup infrastructure such as Arbitrum Orbit, Fuel, Astria, SHARP, Dojo, etc. For more details about this category and how to get involved, check out DA Adapters’RFP

Avail is built as a Substrate-based blockchain with some tweaks and modifications to provide a lightweight data availability layer for Rollup developers. Existing wallets will also require some adjustments to integrate with the Avail blockchain.

As the base layer of the Rollup stack, the Avail wallet should enable a variety of users to easily pay transaction fees and post transactions to Avail. The team building the Avail wallet needs to prioritize a seamless user experience and focus on specific use cases (such as helping validators and other infrastructure providers manage their accounts with Avail).

We are looking for a mature team with extensive wallet experience to tackle this challenge. To learn more, check out the Avail wallet supported RFP

3. Long-term block data storage

Data availability is not the same as data storage. Avails main goal is to make transaction data available to other blockchains, rather than storing the data permanently.

With the right long-term block data storage options in place, Avail can start pruning data while allowing developers to access historical data through other solutions. This historical data is no longer necessary for the operation of the blockchain that created it, but can be useful for analytics and other use cases.

The long-term block data storage category welcomes teams that can provide reliable long-term block data storage services to meet the needs of the Avail network. To learn more, check out Long Term Block Data Storage RFP
