Analyze from multiple dimensions to see the specific data performance of major Rollups in August.

To this day, Rollup’s narrative is becoming more and more popular. On the one hand, while inheriting the security, users and ecology of the main network, it can also reduce transaction fees, effectively improve performance, and greatly improve the user experience; on the other hand, Layer 2’s current business model (transaction procedures fee commission) is also becoming increasingly clear.

As the most important direction for Layer 2 expansion, the Rollup track has been developing frequently recently: Linea announced the opening of Alpha access to the main network, Base officially announced the launch of the main network, and the number of users participating in zkSync bridge transactions exceeded 2 million...

In order to better understand the overall development of the Layer 2 track, Opside officially collected statistics on some of the more mainstream Layer 2 solutions currently on the market (Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, Linea, Base, etc.) and conducted analysis from various dimensions. The following is the specific data performance of major Rollups in August:

  • trading activity

In terms of transaction activity, zkSync stands out, with a staggering average of 929,445 daily transactions. This demonstrates that ZkSync’s ecosystem has achieved significant success in attracting users and transactions. On the contrary, Metiss performance is relatively weak, with an average daily number of transactions of only 116,017, which may be due to Metiss high handling fees.

  • User fees

From a user fee perspective, Metis users appear to pay relatively high gas fees, with their average daily GasFee being 17.001 Gwei. In stark contrast, Optimisms user fees are very low, with an average daily GasFee of just 0.131 Gwei. This may make Optimism more attractive, especially for users looking to reduce transaction costs. But Optimism has not found a suitable balance point now, resulting in losses due to too low GasFee.

  • Revenue Performance and Expenses

Metis excels in terms of revenue, with an average daily revenue of 62.591 Ether, which is the highest among the solutions. However, Optimism takes the lead in terms of payouts, with total monthly payouts as high as 1, 272.512 Ether. This may require Optimism to further optimize its spending strategy to improve net income.

  • net income

Metis also performed well in terms of net income, with its average daily net income of 61.617 Ether and total monthly net income of 1,910.115 Ether. In contrast, Optimism’s net income is negative, with an average daily net income of -26.050 Ether and a total monthly net income of -807.558 Ether. This requires Optimism to take measures to increase net income to maintain its sustainability, such as increasing GasFee appropriately.
