In recent years, he has gradually shifted his focus from the entertainment industry to the blockchain industry. Today we will listen to the story of how he started to devote himself to cryptocurrency and NFT.
How did you first get in touch with the encryption circle?
Huang Licheng:In 2017, when I was still doing the 17 live broadcast, the cryptocurrency started to hit, and a bunch of people were doing ICO, so I told the shareholders that this is the trend to do this! In the end, they all said it was a scam, Okay Fuck It, I will do it myself.
In 2018, Mithril (MITH) was launched, and social mining was launched, encouraging users to upload photos or videos to mine. It was considered to be very advanced, but because it was too advanced, many details were not thought out, and the currency price collapsed as a result. Although it was a pity, I also learned a lot of experience and later made CREAM.
But wasn't CREAM hacked before?
Huang Licheng:Yes, that time was really miserable. I took an expensive lesson and realized how deep the Defi water is. At that time, we were hacked and lost almost 140 million US dollars, but then we tried to compensate customers, and now CREAM continues profit.
In November 2020, I chose to transfer the control of CREAM to Andre Cronje, the founder of Yearn. When the epidemic broke out, I was fine at home, so I started to focus on NFT.

Huang Licheng:The earliest contact with NFT was about 18 years ago. At that time, I thought about cutting music into NFT and selling it online, but it was too early to engage in Defi. The reason why I really devoted myself to the NFT market is that among my friends, there is a Taiwanese girl named Emily Yang, who is a well-known NFT artist. At that time, she had a project to sell paintings and donate to the #StopAsianHate organization, of course such a meaningful thing must be supported! They called on a few friends to form an organization under Emily's nickname pplpleasr, and "PleasrDAO" was born.
It was just for fun at the beginning, but as more and more influential celebrities or entrepreneurs with financial strength joined PleasrDAO, we decided to make this DAO a decentralized art investment organization. A while ago, the ghost hacker Edward launched an NFT called Stay Free. We think it is very valuable. No matter how much the opponent drives, we must mark it, but the process is extremely thrilling. I thought it was hopeless, but suddenly a friend asked He can help if he says how much is missing, so in the end it was successfully auctioned for $5.4 million, and the NFT of the Doge meme map is also in our hands.
What about Boring Apes (BAYC)?
Huang Licheng:In fact, I have been observing BAYC for a long time. At that time, I could Mint for many days. On the last day in the middle of the night, I first mint 40 by myself, and then I also called my friends to buy. The founder of 17, Sam, is very fierce! Just ordered 120 Mints, WTF! Can't lose! I got up and continued to chase. After Mint was over, I went to the secondary market to collect it. Others opened one ETH and two ETH to buy it, and finally received almost a hundred monkeys. When the PleasrDAO members got up at dawn, they should say that they didn't buy it. I just wanted to say that it was fun because everyone came to play. I gave away more than 30 of them without even thinking about it. "
The monkey atmosphere in the artist circle was also brought up by you!
Huang Licheng:I remember that the first artist I gave was Kai Kai (Ke Zhendong). I also gave him Bo Lin’s monkey. Bo Lin has a good eye, and he chose the most limited one in my collection. It seems to be ranked in the top 50! At that time, it was not as expensive as it is now, but it was not cheap either, probably more than ten thousand dollars. "

Although BAYC is not my project, anyone who likes it can do their part. You can use your influence to infect others and let more people know about it.
But besides changing the avatar, what else can NFT do?
Huang Licheng:NFT (Non-fungible tokens) means non-homogeneous tokens, which can be used in a wide range of applications. Real estate certificates, art copyrights, and even identity certificates can also be NFTs; Whether the national government has this awareness, or plans to move in this direction, is a question mark.
In addition, the general public also holds the mentality of watching the excitement. In addition to thinking that this is a scam and there will be bubbles, they only care about how much the coins and NFTs in their hands can rise. Who cares what decentralization is doing? Once you understand it, you will naturally know where the news is and where the trend is going. Even if you lose money and get hurt, it’s all experience.
