Let's start the Aptos journey.

Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) launched a blockchain project in 2018, before the cryptocurrency boom broke out in 2021. The following year, the project was named "Libra". Unfortunately, due to Facebook's accumulated notoriety and various controversies over the past decade, Libra was unable to obtain approval from US regulators, and the project eventually came to an end. To make a long story short, Libra was later renamed "Diem" and the related assets were sold to Silvergate Capital, a listed bank in the United States, in January 2022.

At the same time, Diem's original development team established their own blockchain projects, among which Aptos and Sui are more famous. Both projects have recently gained market attention, especially Aptos, which successfully raised $350 million in funding this year. For comparison, PoS (proof of stake) pioneer Solana raised just $25 million before launch.

As the underlying PoS blockchain, Aptos uses a new smart contract programming language called "Move", which is also Diem's programming language. The most critical feature of Move is its "parallel execution" technology, which enables Aptos to execute more than 160,000 transactions per second. Of course, the premise is that everything is in order. If successful, Aptos will be the most scalable underlying public chain to date.
