With the emergence and development of blockchain, more and more industries are beginning to pursue openness, transparency, and decentralization. In just a few years, the blockchain has shown many advantages to human beings—decentralizing finance and opening art and creativity to the world. In less than 10 years, the concepts of NFT, DeFi, Metaverse, and Web 3.0 have become increasingly widespread, and DeSci's decentralized science is also a bright wave in the new trend.

2. A new type of solution DeSci DAO wave
The problems mentioned above have led more scientists and researchers to seek a more open and free environment, and the combination of DeSci and DAO is exactly what they are looking for. Various tools provided by blockchain will help make science more independent.
Solving research funding challenges with DeFi tools. Existing science DAOs offer several funding methods, ranging from crowdfunding, investing in research tokens, to selling utility NFTs. For example, part of the proceeds from a commercially successful scientific discovery would be able to go back to the DAO under the terms of the smart contract. Plus, it can raise money for science projects—in theory, anyone with a rare disease could help fund research to find a cure more quickly.
Eliminate the middleman between researchers and reviewers. At present, scientists who want to publish or consult the research results of the same industry rely on intermediate platforms-some scientific alliances or journals, and the profits are often obtained by intermediaries. Blockchain and smart contracts will remove costly middlemen and connect scientists with experts around the world, which will make scientific progress faster.
Give credit in a more just and comprehensive way. Currently, a scientist's reputation is determined by the h-index, which measures the number of papers published and major awards won. There is nothing wrong with this approach per se, but it is too one-sided. For example, in order to obtain funding, some scientists do not pay attention to the quality of research, but blindly pursue the quantity of papers. DeSci activists suggest replacing the h-index with NFT, which not only measures the author's publications, but also evaluates other important work, such as professional knowledge, teaching level, mentoring ability, and participation in research with other scientists.

4. DeSci DAO organization overview
Vita DAO: VitaDAO is a DAO organization that collectively funds and promotes longevity research in an open and democratic manner. It is currently a relatively mature DeSci DAO organization. It just announced the completion of US$4.1 million in financing at the beginning of the year. Investors include Pfizer Ventures, Pfizer Ventures, Shine Capital, L1 Digital, and Balaji Srinivasan, among others. The project aims to use the funds to further fund longevity research projects and biotech startups that will be spun out of the DAO next year.
ValleyDAO:ValleyDAO is an open community collectively funding and democratizing access to synergistic biotechnology to secure our Odaily future.
Molecule DAO:Molecule DAO is a decentralized biotechnology protocol dedicated to transferring scientific research IP to Web3 and helping them start their own DAO organization. Molecule DAO has helped Vita DAO, Psy DAO complete DAO issuance, and also reached a strategy with DAO aggregation platform ThePASS cooperate.
NeuraDAO:NeuraDAO is a decentralized scientific Web3 ecosystem to simplify and improve the R&D process for neurotechnology researchers.
BEAKER DAO:BeakerDAO is a DAO community group supporting decentralized scientific experimentation and innovation.
CureDAO:Discover how millions of factors affect human health and minimize suffering in the universe by rewarding collaborative innovation and data sharing.
PsyDAO:PsyDAO has formed a decentralized organization with the goal of funding research at the intersection of psychedelics and mental health.
HairDAO:HairDAO is advancing the research and development of hair loss treatments in an open-source and democratic manner.
AthenaDAO:A decentralized organization dedicated to funding women's health research.
LabDAO:LabDAO is building an online home of inventors who are building and using open tools for online scientific research.

DeSci Ecosystem Ranking and Data Summary
The above DAO is a partial excerpt. If you want to know more, please enter ThePASS DeSci Ecological Circle (https://www.thepass.to/ecology).
All in all, blockchain technology has shown great potential in all walks of life, including science, where Decentralized Science (DeSci) has emerged as a promising new trend. By addressing the challenges of underfunding, limited access to information, and biased research selection, the combination of DeSci and DAO provides a more open and transparent environment for scientists and researchers.
DeFi tools can cut out intermediaries, enabling scientific projects to raise funds through crowdfunding, research token investing, and selling utility NFTs.
In addition, DeSci advocates replacing the h-index with NFTs, which can assess other important factors such as expertise, teaching ability, mentoring skills, and collaboration with other scientists. The future of DeSci seems bright, with many organizations working to advance the field, we can foresee further innovative solutions and advances in scientific research.
