Software engineer Casey Rodarmor launched the Ordinals protocol on the Bitcoin mainnet on Jan. 21. It allows digital works such as images, texts, programs and even video games to be inscribed directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. Simply put, Ordinals are NFTs on Bitcoin.
In fact, long before Ordinals appeared, some early Bitcoin advocates proposed the idea of integrating the domain name system into Bitcoin, but they were all rejected. The emergence of Ordinals has reignited the discussion on Bitcoin NFT. Some people believe that NFT minted by users using the Ordinals protocol does not require side chains and other tokens, and all Bitcoin NFT data is completely stored on the chain, allowing users to track, transfer, store, buy, and sell without Centralized issues are tampered with and lost. Others believe that Bitcoin NFT may occupy the block space on the Bitcoin network, and then push up transaction fees, and some data show that Ordinal is consuming 50% of the Bitcoin block space, and the block space utilization rate is 100%. % .
Although whether NFT should be minted on the BitTeam network has caused a lot of controversy, market data will not lie. The daily minting quantity of the Ordinal protocol is growing explosively, and popular projects such as OrdinalPunks, ordrocks, and OrdinalPenguins have appeared.
Currently, a total of 10,000 Bitcoinpunks have been minted 9,844.Odaily according to@pntx_art Tweet, I compiled a tutorial on how to mint Bitcoinpunk. There is a certain threshold, and interested friends can experience it.
First, you need to run a full bitcoin node, which can be found athttps://docs.ordinals.com/guides/inscriptions.htmlFind, or use a robot.
Second, you need to set up a wallet Sparrow that accepts Bitcoin NFT, downloadSparrowwallet, and according to the tutorialInstall。
official websiteofficial website, then filter through to see the Bitcoinpunks available for Minting.
All Bitcoinpunks with a gray background are ready to mint. Choose your favorite Bitcoinpunk, right click and save as image.
herehere, and execute CTRL+F, then search for Bitcoinpunk's # number, if the number is not found, it has not been minted, otherwise you must choose another Punk.
Continue to visit the site afterwards:https://ordinalsbot.com, upload the Bitcoinpunk image you downloaded earlier. Write your Sparrow address in the box. To get a Sparrow address, you just need to go to the Sparrow wallet and copy the wallet address on the "Receive" page.
Then set the transaction speed on the Ordinals Bot. I chose max (maximum value) twice, and then the page will display the cost you need to pay.
Click "pay", a pop-up window will pop up, you must choose the "on chain" method, then it will display a QR code and the complete recipient address.
Now you have two payment methods: one is to pay through Sparrow, and the other is to pay through CEX.
If you want to pay with Sparrow, just click on the QR code to pay.(Note that you must have enough BTC to pay.)
Another way is to complete the payment through CEX, I use Binance, from Binance sent the amount that Ordinals Bot asked me to pay. But note that the Ordinals bot is in satoshi and you are doing calculations in BTC, so I used thisconverter。
After completing the payment please do not close the Ordinals Bot window as when the txn is successfully processed you will see the page refresh and it will show your NFT mint link.
Note that transactions take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. There are still 156 Bitcoinpunks that have not been minted, everyone hurry up. However, this project is still in its early stages, please be aware of the risks.
