In the past year, 2,446,036 blocks were born from the Moonriver Network, and in these recorded blocks, more than 2.1 million on-chain transactions were sequentially recorded. Every day, Moonriver Network welcomes new users, developers and various interesting applications, and 193 application deployments have entered the Moonriver ecosystem. Facing you on the other side of the Moonriver network, every meeting is a familiar and unfamiliar relationship.

1. First of all, what exactly is Moonriver?
In the past year, Moonriver has undergone more than 30 Runtime upgrades and integrated more than 10 different development tools. Moonbeam engineers write detailed developer documentation for each type of development tool, and strive to find tools that match the needs of the development team.
Today's Moonriver is not only a smart contract development platform that is compatible with both Substrate and EVM, we integrate the strengths of the chains to help more cross-chain applications obtain high-quality functions such as Polkadot, Cosmos and EVM compatible chains at the same time.
Connected Contracts, we call it "Interconnected Contract" for the time being in Chinese, is a conceptual way for Moonriver to realize cross-chain interaction in the underlying smart contract. Click to know what isConnected Contracts
(Continuing to work hard) Fortunately, we have gained the recognition of many multi-chain ecological developers, and Moonriver has gradually become a must-see for development teams eager for multi-chain deployment:
For example: Lido, a liquid staking protocol widely used in Ethereum, uses the XCM Transactor in the concept of Connected Contracts to transform KSM, which was originally circulated only in the Kusama ecosystem, into xcKSM, which is compatible with both Substrate and EVM (even if the xc prefix is added, it is still KSM).
17 categories of xc-20s are moving from the Kusama ecology to the broader Web3 world via Moonriver Network.
Such usage scenarios are just the tip of the iceberg of Connected Contracts. We are most proud of successfully helping the development team solve the problems encountered in the native cross-chain.
Open the developer documentation of Moonbeam. In this already flourishing documentation collection, there are solutions explored by various Moonbeam engineers and project parties. This document is updated in real time, and supports Chinese at the same time, you can find what you want by searching keywords.
Going back to this cliche question, now that we have Moonbeam, what do we need Moonriver for?

2. In an inward-looking market environment, how can Moonriver be sustainable?
The foundation of Moonriver is to become a solid support for many decentralized applications, providing development teams with convenient and easy-to-use multi-chain solutions, underlying development tools, etc.
As Arrington Capital described to the Moonbeam team in its blog: skip the usual Layer 1 development sequence, and put the expansion of the ecology in an equally important position while deepening the technology.
With the support of the Moonbeam team and the foundation, Moonriver has prioritized a series of ecological support programs. This also allows the Moonbeam team to explore the unique value of the two chains, Moonbeam and Moonriver.
First, if you want to put a new application on the market, you can test the business model on Moonriver at a very low cost.
It is not a subjective prediction of self-meditation. A reliable experimental method is to directly let the community participate in the experience, find out the good aspects from the user experience, and modify the unsuitable places. Moonriver is a purely community-led public chain, without the reservation of institutions and teams, and the community is the main force of the public chain. With the advantage of low gas fees, Moonriver is a natural petri dish for Web3 start-up applications. The first step is solid. Even in the public chain with a larger market scale in the future, new applications will still be able to move with ease.
Grants ProgramIt is an incubation activity used by the Moonbeam Foundation to support new development teams. Good ideas will get closer and closer to landing after incubation and acceleration.
A USD 100 million ecological fund co-sponsored by the Moonbeam Foundation and Arrington Capital, dedicated to investing in early Moonbean ecological projects, which of course include various applications of Moonriver ecology.
Second, in the frequent network upgrades, Moonriver first helps you screen out the really applicable upgrades or solutions.
You don't need to worry about whether the network upgrade will have an irreversible impact on the public chain due to errors, and you don't have to worry about the feasibility of the repair plan when there is a problem with the upgrade. On-chain upgrades, large and small, should be tried in Moonriver first, and then implemented in Moonbam after success.
Still have various details and don't know how to solve them? Moonbeam has a developer relations team that spans the world, specializing in solving various technical problems encountered by developers, Chinese language is also supported!
Third, the value of the public chain is directly proportional to the number of ecosystems, and the influx of users and applications into Moonriver will only increase.
Applications cannot exist in isolation like the "lonely brave". Moonriver uses the attributes of its own development platform to accommodate more tools, development stacks, cross-chain protocols, etc., and minimizes the threshold for interactive Web3 tools.

3. The future has come, what does Moonriver want to do?
Become a technical "diplomat" connecting different Web3 underlying infrastructures.
Moonbeam as a development team from the Web2 field all in Web3 (See Moonbeam CEO Derek's introduction for details), we have been expecting Web3 to have a user experience beyond Web2.
Connected Connects is the main vision of Moonriver and Moonbeam. Applications deployed on Moonriver can freely interact and operate with resources of different blockchains without being restricted by the underlying architecture, and developers can easily access services on any chain. We believe that this will bring developers a broad design space and give birth to brand-new Web3 killer applications.

Moonriver
Moonriver is Moonbeam's peer network designed to provide a permanent testing environment for incentivized experiments. The code of the newly launched project will be deployed to Moonriver first, and undergo a series of tests and experimental verifications in its real economic environment. After the verification is completed and passed the test, the project code can be officially deployed to Moonbeam on Polkadot.
