Definition of DAO
So, what are DAOs? Can we define it correctly? We can try to define it from two angles.
DAO in vision
Ideally, a DAO can function independently without any central authority or management, as manifested in the fact that a DAO can develop its functionality through the use of artificial intelligence or collective management of human participants.
This idea is in line with the principles of the sharing economy or the theory of shared resources, and it is possible to transfer the current power structure from centralized enterprises to user groups, who themselves form system functions and governance rules. DAOs in practice
The concept of DAO in practice was first proposed by Jentzsch, the founder of Slock IT, in the form of a white paper in 2016. The DAO is described as a software-based decentralized organization that connects multiple parties (including shareholders and all stakeholders) and facilitates trusted transactions.
Following this clue, DAO can be a decentralized, crowdfunding, direct management (or indirect democracy) organization and investment platform, which is also the positioning of most DAO projects at present. Most DAOs differ from each other by offering slightly different functionalities, market verticals, and governance structures.
