The Dolphin test network is the test network of Manta Network and the leading network Calamari Network. In order to ensure that new products can be safely launched on the Manta and Calamari main networks, these products and functions will first be verified on the test network.

V2 version Dolphin test network function
This month we will release the V2 version of the Dolphin testnet; the next version will introduce more new features, optimize the generation speed of ZKP and improve the user experience.
Added reusable privacy addresses to improve user experience
The V1 version testnet uses one-time addresses, and each transaction corresponds to a unique address, which is derived from a long-term key. The sender uses the one-time address to construct UTXOs and NOTEs that can then be spent.
The V2 version testnet uses a reusable private address system to provide the same experience as a regular public-private key pair (such as the key pair of a DOT wallet address). Private addresses can be used indefinitely, or users can choose to use them only once.
View Keys: The Key to Self-Sovereign Compliance
Viewing keys is the first step towards self-sovereign compliance and auditing for Manta/Calamari. Looking at how keys are constructed doesn't affect the core payment protocol itself.
Viewing a key allows a user to decrypt and deanonymize all private transactions sent from a particular public key. Viewing keys are read-only, so they do not give viewers any power to spend private assets.
Optimize ZK Proof of Membership to improve performance
Membership proofs based on Merkle trees are the most expensive part of the privacy payment circuit. These proofs are chained calls to a fixed binary hash function, so we need to optimize this function as much as possible.
For these membership proofs, we also need to use a uniform data type at each level of the Merkle tree. Field elements are the cheapest data type to operate on, so we need to find a fast hash that only operates on on-field elements.
In the choice of hash function, we chose the Poseidon hash function to optimize the most expensive part of the circuit. Poseidon is a very simple cycle-based hash function based entirely on algebraic operations on on-field elements, and is therefore the most suitable hash function for ZK among state-of-the-art proof systems.
The ZK proof system is optimized for these algebraic constructions in the existing domain. Poseidon was exactly what we needed to reduce the number of restrictions in this environment.

About Manta Network
Manta Network is committed to building a better Web3 world through privacy protection. Manta's product design starts from first principles, and provides end-to-end privacy protection for blockchain users through leading cryptographic architectures such as zkSNARK. While protecting privacy, Manta is interoperable, convenient, high-performance and auditable, allowing users to conduct private transfers and transactions between any parachain assets. Manta's vision is to provide more convenient privacy protection services for the entire blockchain world.
