On September 15th, Manta Network's leading network, Calamari Network, won the Kusama 7th parachain slot auction with 218,247 KSM locked votes, and has been connected to the Kusama network to become a parachain block producer. There are more than 16,000 Calamari crowdfunding contributors, which is the one with the largest number of community contributions among all Kusama parachain auction projects.
We've sorted out some of the most frequently asked questions from the community to help you better understand Calamari.
1. When will Calamari reward coins be distributed? What are the release rules?
Calamari’s token rewards will be based on the development roadmap. After the parachain goes online, we will enter the on-chain governance stage, and will gradually open the on-chain governance forum. After the on-chain governance module is completed, some tokens will be distributed and opened for crowd loan rewards. Transfer, we expect this time will be in Q4; at that time, 34% of the first batch of tokens will be released immediately, and 11% of the remaining tokens will be released in equal amounts every 8 weeks, and the release will be completed after 48 weeks;
2. After winning the Kusama slot, what was the first product Calamari launched? How can users participate?
The first product is the privacy payment product MariPay. In the near future, Calamari will launch a test network for experience. After running for a period of time, Calamari will be officially launched. At that time, users can participate in the test network to obtain early airdrops or wait until the main network is launched. privacy mining;
3. What is the plan for the next stage of Calamari?
With the launch of the Calamari parachain, we need to shift to the goal of becoming a community-led project and implement on-chain governance at an early stage, which means that the future core development team cannot arbitrarily launch or remove some Function.
Next, we will officially release Calamari's products and functions, which includes the tasks required for Calamari to run properly, including:
Develop a simple web front-end interface to allow users to conduct private transfers of parachain assets; MariPay supports KSM’s private transactions; set up a community trusted execution environment for preparing zero-knowledge proof circuits. All of these features will be implemented in Calamari v1.
After V1 runs smoothly for a period of time, we will start the V2 version, which includes the new functions of Mariswap private transactions, which is somewhat similar to the private version of Uniswap, which will be a very innovative and unique product. We look forward to attracting good TVL into the world of private finance transactions.
The V3 version will be a more ambitious goal. Calamari and Manta will become smart contract platforms, build a bridge between Web2 and Web3, and bring more Web2 products into the era of Web3 privacy and data non-custodial. We hope that even if developers do not have a background in cryptography, they can develop products with sufficient security and privacy on the chain through Calamari's contracts.
4. Which parachains will Calamari cooperate with in the future?
Manta has already tested XCM with Acala/Karura, and is currently doing the same thing with Astar. The next focus will be the testing of Moonbeam/Moonriver and Interlay, because these two parallel chains will bring assets and Bitcoin into the Kusama world, and all we have to do is make these assets private.
5. Is there any plan for Calamari token?
The specific plan is waiting for the official announcement.
6. Calamari originally planned to use 5% of the tokens for IDO in Sushi MISO, but it has been canceled recently. What is the reason for this?
On September 16th, we announced the Calamari "Bento Project", planning to conduct KMA IDO at Sushi MISO. The original intention of this IDO is to provide KMA with better price discovery and liquidity, which we believe is beneficial to the community.
But since the announcement of the IDO news, we have received a lot of different views from the community. After continuous communication with the community, the core team of Manta & Calamari listened to the community's suggestions and adjusted the rules of IDO. At the same time, we have also opened up the voting on whether to carry out IDO in the community. Judging from the early voting results, the community vote ratio is close to 1:1.
But in the process, we found that the community fell into a strong confrontation of different views, which is very detrimental to the growth of the community and the project. After careful discussion by the team, we decided to cancel the MISO IDO originally scheduled to open on September 22, because for Manta and Calamari, a healthy and united community is more important than IDO.
7. After IDO is cancelled, how will the originally planned 5% tokens be allocated?
Regarding the 5% token distribution that everyone is concerned about, the team decided to use part of it as an airdrop reward for early community participation and builders, including Mandalorian ambassadors and senior ambassadors. In addition, some will be used as user incentives for the upcoming testnet, and all these distribution details will be announced to the community.
8. Who are the ambassadors? How to become a Manta Ambassador?
