, this article partially deletes the original text, and the original title is "Uniswap V3 Deployed in Optimism".
About two years ago, at DEVCON V 2019, Optimism partnered with Uniswap to build the Unipig Exchange, the first demo of Optimistic Rollup.
Uniswap v3 is now deployed on the Optimism Network - a layer2 scaling solution that enables near-instant transaction finality and low transaction fees while retaining the security guarantees of layer1 Ethereum.
At launch, transactions on Optimism are executed by a single orderer run by the Optimism team, which periodically publishes transactions and state roots (an aggregate update of all account balances, contract code, etc.) on the L1 Ethereum blockchain.
At launch, the Optimism team will have full escalation rights over the bridge contract, allowing them to fix any errors that may arise, while still risking total loss of funds.
Some new highlights of Optimism:
Redesigned Token Bridge:
After months of working with the community, the token bridging system was redesigned, allowing Optimism to flexibly and easily bridge new L1 assets into L2. At launch, the bridge supports DAI, WBTC, USDT, EURT, ETH, and SNX, and provides an interface for adding new assets.
This would not have been possible without an incredible suite of new infrastructure integrations helping OΞ to be as powerful and versatile as L1 Ethereum, including:
Etherscan
Infura
Alchemy
Quicknode
The Graph
Truffle
Hardhat
Metamask
Coinbase Wallet
Imtoken wallet
Important information:
Important information:
Downtime: During the first few days of OΞ there will be downtime (planned and possibly unplanned) during which LPs will not earn transaction fees to compensate for price risk. Scheduled downtime will be communicated in advance through social media channels.
Withdrawal times: Deposits from Ethereum L1 to Optimism Ethereum are instant. However, before the fast withdrawal service was provided, it took 7 days to withdraw from OΞ to L1.
Select assets: Uniswap v3 can support any ERC20 token on OΞ, but will offer a limited number of assets (ETH, USDT, WBTC, DAI, SNX) at launch. In the coming days and weeks, more tokens will be connected to Optimism Ethereum.
TWAP oracle: The Optimism collator introduces additional trust assumptions for developers using the v3 price feed.
Composability: OΞ supports full composability. However, at launch, the network does not allow arbitrary deployment of smart contracts. If you want to deploy your own contract on OΞ, please contact the Optimism team on Discord.
Scaling Ethereum will be an iterative process, but this is an important step forward. Optimistic rollup and ETH 2.0 are complementary scalable solutions that will propel DeFi into mainstream adoption.
how to use?
Assets can be transferred from Ethereum on layer1 to layer2 Optimism through the Optimism Gateway. Deposits will reach users' wallets within 5 minutes, and they can start trading on Uniswap immediately.
Deposit funds into Optimism
Open the Optimism Gateway. If this is your first visit, please read the disclaimer carefully.
Click Connect and select Wallet. Should be connected to the Ethereum L1 mainnet at this step. If the wallet isn't working, it probably doesn't support Optimism yet.
Select the token to deposit. Note that Optimism only supports a limited set of tokens at launch, and more tokens will be added over time.
Enter the amount of tokens you want to deposit from layer1 to layer2
Click the Deposit button
Read the disclaimer and click Deposit again
Confirm the transaction in the wallet. Note that this is a layer1 transaction, so normal gas fees will be charged. However, after a one-time deposit, you will experience the joy of Optimism's lower gas fees.
