Just when the bull market in the encryption market was in full swing, as one of the pioneers standing at the top of the blockchain world, the original EOS co-founder BM (Daniel Larimer) started a new journey.
On March 2, BM released the introduction of its new project Clarion OS, and updated the new project code on Github. This is the fourth entrepreneurial project based on blockchain technology developed by BM after Bitshares, Steem and EOS.
However, Li Yue, an investor with a heavy EOS position, has mixed feelings.
As early as January 10, when BM announced his resignation as CTO of Block.one, many EOS players were indignant about this, thinking that BM abandoned EOS, which undoubtedly made EOS worse. Analysts believe that this is exactly the same as his free and easy aloofness and advocating freedom.
On March 12, BM stated on its Twitter that it had released a draft of the EOS community governance proposal. The draft outlines the process of vetting and appointing individuals to control the distribution of EOS tokens, as well as the future direction of EOS. In addition, he also stated that reports of his departure from the EOS community were exaggerated, and looked forward to working with the community to help EOS realize its original vision.

Run away in the name of "freedom"
BM is a legend in the blockchain world, and has a very high reputation in the currency circle with mixed reviews.
According to media reports, BM was born in a family of "code farmers" in the United States, and his father was a senior engineer at Boeing. BM graduated from Virginia Tech and State University with a major in computer science. He is a talented programmer with innovative thinking. He is not only a serial blockchain entrepreneur, but also brought Bitshares, Steemit, and EOS to the top five of the blockchain market value rankings and shines in the annals of history.
However, although BM led these three projects, during the development process of Bitshares and Steemit, BM chose to "get off" halfway. The first project, Bitshares, was once trapped in funding problems. At that time, BM proposed a solution of "additional issuance", which caused opposition from the entire community; Can't stand the test.
In view of this, during the development of EOS in the past few years, there is always a question lingering in the ears of investors: Will BM leave EOS? At this time, BM will always personally refute the rumors and say, "I will not leave EOS."
"On January 10 this year, BM finally left again." Li Yue said that this day is still here.
Regarding the third breakup between BM and his partner, he posted that BTC, ETH, and EOS were all targeted by regulators and completely lost their privacy. The best hope for a token to achieve capital gains is to maximize its function as money, as well as be itself compliant and work towards institutional adoption. I believe that the staking pool model will make EOS a better currency. If the goal is to achieve huge capital gains, KYC accounts trading regulator-approved assets with regulatory-approved smart contracts may be the only way to go.
BM believes that if the community chooses to go down this path, then Block.one is the ideal person to lead EOS in this direction. And I don't want my innovations to be limited by the whims of government regulators. Those of us who want to create the tools to bring power back to the people need to look elsewhere. Our "profit" is not measured in dollars, but in "freedom".

"Broken connection" with EOS
"Before BM left, EOS had already harvested leeks, leaving only a field of chicken feathers." A trace of displeasure flashed across Li Yue's face. He said that the heavy position in EOS made me miss the entire bull market.
In fact, since the launch of the EOS mainnet, the currency price has been in a weak state. According to data from Huobi Global, the high price of EOS occurred on April 29, 2018, at 23 USDT. The highest price of EOS this year was 5.6 USDT set on February 14, only 24.3% of the former. Compared with mainstream currencies such as BTC and ETH that have repeatedly hit new highs, it is not surprising that the price performance of EOS has been criticized.
At the beginning of the birth of EOS, the one-year global fundraising value reached 4 billion U.S. dollars, becoming the "biggest ICO in history". . Then, the EOS super node campaign and the ups and downs of the mainnet launch firmly locked the spotlight of the currency circle on EOS.
On January 11, perhaps due to the resignation of BM, the number of EOS node votes dropped by more than 10 million votes. According to the EOS browser bloks.io, the total number of votes for eosnationftw, the number one node, has decreased by 10.65 million votes, a decrease of 2.6%; the number of votes for atticlabeosb, the second-ranked node, has decreased by 18.81 million votes. The number of votes of the top 21 EOS nodes has declined to varying degrees.
"Today, EOS is not only abandoned by investors in the currency circle, but also 'abandoned' by BM." Li Yue believes that it is difficult for EOS to have a bright future.
Although BM stated that it is still finding ways to contribute to the EOS community and provide the freedom and decentralization that many of us want. However, many investors like Li Yue did not buy it, thinking that it was a harm to EOS. He said,
On March 12, BM stated on its Twitter that it had released a draft of the EOS community governance proposal. The draft outlines the process of vetting and appointing individuals to control the distribution of EOS tokens, as well as the future direction of EOS. According to the draft, to become a community member, an invitation from an existing member must be requested (or provided) and confirmed by two other members. Finally, new members must be approved by at least one elected official. Additionally, every 10% growth in the community automatically triggers an election, and no new members can officially join until the election process is over. This mitigates the risk of elections being sybil-attacked.
On March 9, BM also stated on its Twitter that the reports about my leaving the EOS community were exaggerated. I look forward to working with the community to build a path for EOS to realize my original vision.

Start a social "new track"
On March 2, BM updated the code of the new project Clarion on Github, and said that Clarion OS has just started and is still in the early design stage.
According to the introduction, Clarion OS aims to provide everyone with the tools to spread the news to everyone who wants to hear it, without having to rely on centralized infrastructure. It will do so through a censorship-resistant friend-to-friend network that will leverage unused resources of friends and family to distribute your content. The ultimate goal of Clarion OS is to provide the performance and reliability of a "centralized service" with the freedom and independence of a logically decentralized network.
With the help of the Clarion community, people can free friends and family from the "tyranny" of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Apple, and Google, and create a social network free of manipulation and third-party dependencies. The core of Clarion OS is a friend-to-friend messaging protocol, which supports functions such as real-time video and chat between encrypted identities. Using the Web Assembly plugin, it should be possible to build different types of applications on Clarion OS, including tokens and smart contracts. If typical Ethereum and EOS smart contracts are considered "Layer 1", then Clarion OS can be considered "Layer 0".
"The censorship-resistant web qualities of Clarion OS confirm the 'ideal' that BM left to focus on creating tools that people can use to ensure their own freedom." Li Yue believes that judging from BM's new entrepreneurial projects, he has a soft spot for building social platforms.
According to the data, when BM left Steemit, he thought it was just a social application with too narrow functions; when Voice came out, BM once said that he wanted to do everything that Steemit originally wanted to do but failed to do.
On June 2, 2019, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the launch of EOS, Voice, as the official social application platform produced by EOS, is considered to be a breakthrough for EOS to further practice the social platform. Its official website describes that Voice will use the Token model design to encourage the creation, sharing, discovery and promotion of high-quality content, and establish a social media platform composed of real users rather than robots or zombie accounts.
Analysts believe that Clarion OS seems to be inheriting the basic principle of the Voice social platform and further processing it.
At the same time, because EOS bears the title of "the largest ICO in history", it has been criticized by investors. On March 3, BM stated on its Twitter that Clarion OS is not a blockchain, but will be free and open source software that does not require any investment. I have not requested investment and have no plans to do so in the future. I'm spending a lot of money building technology that enables people to communicate.
"BM is an idealist dedicated to personal privacy and freedom, but after parting ways with entrepreneurial projects three times, it remains to be seen whether the market will pay for BM's 'dream'." However, what Li Yue hopes more is , BM can "start well and end well" this time.
