According to official documents, the data center will be built at the Ravna nuclear power plant after the construction company received funding of 8.92 million hryvnia ($317,620). The only competitor in the tender was Ukrenergobudproek. However, regional news outlet Forklog said they made expensive offers.

Kiev Energy Construction Company hopes to complete the construction of the data center by August 31, 2022. Contractors must send documents detailing the entire process, according to the announcement. It includes "host status registers, electronic archives and computing facilities".

In terms of technical details, the nuclear power plant has a capacity of 2,657 MW and was built in the late 1970s. In addition, the operation of state-owned nuclear facilities began in early 1980.

In October 2020, NPP also signed a memorandum of understanding with a subsidiary of cryptocurrency mining giant Bitfury. With the new data center in place, local media believes that Bitfury miners can move their operations to the facility at the nuclear power plant.
