After experiencing the theft of nearly $25 million in assets, the dForce theft incident took an unexpected twist. Data on the EtherScan chain shows that although the attacker has exchanged some of the stolen funds for other currencies, almost all of the stolen assets have been returned.

In fact, the hacker returned $2.79 million to dForce yesterday, and the remaining assets have been transferred to the dForce address one after another today.

According to statistics from The Block Research Director Larry Cermak, the assets returned today include: 57,992 ETH (approximately US$10.11 million), 252.347 imBTC (approximately US$4.03 million), 425.62 MKR (approximately US$131,500), 5178.2 LINK (about $18,490), 39,968.3 KNC (about $18,430), 110,383.27 BAT (about $17,680), 1,817.7 HT (about $6,780), 38,180 LEND (about $1,020) ) and stablecoins including USDT, DAI, PAX, etc. totaled $9.46 million.

The returned assets totaled $23.8 million, down from about $25 million when they were stolen, which may have something to do with the market drop. Affected by the epic plunge in crude oil, the price of Bitcoin plunged rapidly last night, falling from $7,050 to $6,751 at one point, and is currently hovering around $6,850. Mainstream currencies such as ETH all experienced sharp declines.

It's unclear why the attackers returned all the stolen funds, but reports say it's likely related to the attackers leaking their own IP addresses. According to Cointelegraph's previous reports, after obtaining information about the hacker, dForce also sent a message to the hacker: "Contact us for your better future." Larry from The Block said that he believed that the attacker was caught and forced to return Stolen funds.
