The Facebook stablecoin does not yet know what mechanism it is. If it is anchored to the US dollar or gold in the early stage, and then gradually decoupled, will it become the de facto digital central bank? The opportunity may be huge in the short or medium term, but in the long run it cannot unlock its true potential until it gets rid of Facebook.
