New York Mayor Adams announces cryptocurrency policy plan to promote crypto payments and education for city services
a day ago
Odaily News New York Mayor Eric Adams announced a number of crypto-friendly initiatives at the Brooklyn Permissionless Conference, including promoting the use of cryptocurrencies to pay for city services, introducing digital asset education in schools, and forming a city council to advocate for policy directions that are favorable to the crypto industry. At the meeting, Adams criticized former Governor Andrew Cuomo's regulatory policies on the crypto industry as "wrong and misleading," saying he "dismantled and destroyed the industry" during his tenure. In addition, Adams also stated that he would seek to bypass the resistance of the city comptroller and continue to advance his proposed Bitcoin-backed municipal bond plan. He revealed that the three mayoral salaries he had previously received in the form of Bitcoin have not yet been sold, and he will participate in this November's mayoral election as an independent candidate.
