Barclays: May U.S. inflation data may show impact of tariffs

Odaily News In April, the U.S. CPI inflation rate fell for three consecutive months to 2.3%, further moving toward the Fed's 2% target. But Barclays economists wrote that the April data may be a recent low for the time being. "We expect the May CPI report to show initial signs of tariff-related price pressures. The high-frequency data we track indicates that there is potential price pressure in a wide range of core commodity categories such as apparel, home furnishings, new cars and 'other' goods." (Jinshi)
