ZachXBT: Law enforcement mistakenly detained former Yuga Labs security researcher in a 2022 cyber theft case

Odaily News On-chain detective ZachXBT says law enforcement mistakenly detained former Yuga Labs security researcher Sam Curry in connection with a 2022 cyber theft that stole approximately $1.1 million worth of BAYC NFTs. ZachXBT says he has identified the wallet behind the scam and associated it with a now-deleted X account. In December 2022, an anonymous attacker stole 14 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, each trading for approximately $86,000 at the time. Law enforcement then "mistakenly viewed OpenSea's logs, which contained [Curry's] home IP address, and used this to falsely label him as a suspect." (Cointelegraph)
