Citi and SDX to Tokenize Private Equity Markets
05-06 12:40
Odaily News Global banking giant Citi announced a partnership with SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), a digital asset platform under the Swiss Stock Exchange, to launch a blockchain-based central securities custody platform (CSD) in the third quarter of 2025 for tokenized late-stage private equity (Pre-IPO) shares. Citi will serve as the custodian and issuing agent of digital assets, and SDX's platform is built on R3's Corda distributed ledger technology. It is reported that the platform will initially target institutions and qualified investors in Switzerland, Singapore and other parts of Asia, excluding US investors. The move aims to improve the liquidity and efficiency of the private equity market and solve problems such as manual operations and information opacity in the current transaction process. David Newns, CEO of SDX, said the collaboration will enable the efficient distribution of shares of mature international private companies and is expected to attract strong investor interest.
