Manta founder reveals Lazarus hacker group uses real face videos to carry out Zoom phishing attacks
04-18 05:56
Odaily News Kenny Li, co-founder of Manta Network, recently disclosed that he had encountered a highly sophisticated Zoom phishing attack. The other party was suspected to be the North Korean state-backed hacker group Lazarus. The attack used "highly confusing" real-life images to try to induce him to download malicious script files. Kenny Li said that the other party simulated a familiar team member in the Zoom meeting, the camera was turned on but there was no sound, and prompted him that "Zoom needs to be updated" and asked him to download a script file. Li immediately terminated the meeting after being alerted, and instead asked to verify his identity through Telegram. As a result, the other party subsequently deleted all chat records and blocked him. In addition, ContributionDAO and other community members have also reported similar encounters, including requests to download a specific "commercial version" of Zoom and refusing to use Google Meet, indicating that such attacks are clearly targeted and coherent.
