Odaily News The MacBook Pro of an Internal Revenue Service agent that tracked and seized 120,000 Bitcoins stolen from cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex in 2016 is now in the collection of the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. “The laptop was at the center of a criminal case that demonstrated the evolving understanding of cryptocurrency,” Ellen Feingold, director of the National Numismatic Collection (NNC), explained in an article for Smithsonian Magazine on Nov. 18. The laptop belonged to Chris Janczewski, a former IRS agent who now oversees global investigations for blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs. Janczewski helped discover the keys to 120,000 Bitcoins stolen from Bitfinex by Ilya Lichtenstein, who was sentenced to five years in prison earlier this month for the hack. (Cointelegraph)
