Delegate founder: To keep EVM at the forefront, an EOA-focused execution layer upgrade is needed

Odaily News Delegate founder foobar said on the X platform that Ethereum seems to have lost some of its roots in terms of security. More relays succumb to OFAC, LST models defeat individual stakers, etc., so fixing the execution layer may be necessary for EVM to win. Of course, and with enough confidence, ETH will fix some issues before 2026. But this is not 2013 anymore, and the world cannot be expected to wait and see what happens for three years while we focus on PBS executing tickets and L1 is unavailable. For EVM to stay ahead of the curve, a parallel EOA-focused execution layer upgrade is necessary. Another failed narrative: L2 is supposed to be a testing ground for new EIPs. But that didn’t happen, instead L2 lagged behind L1 in EIP adoption, so Ethereum needed to play a bigger role in driving these improvements, and a successful L2 upstream would drive the entire ecosystem forward. However, the difficulty/cost of Rollup is not the main bottleneck, but the complexity of the surrounding EVM infrastructure, which requires parallel coordination. For example, the main bottleneck in implementing EIP-3074 support is the wallet. So if MetaMask wants to join, L1 needs to take a leadership role in this.
